Web queries for "Jason Wu" and "Isabel Toledo" shot up as soon as Michelle Obama modeled Wu's asymmetrical white gown to the official Inaugural Balls and Toledo's chartreuse coat and sheath to the swearing-in ceremony. On Jan. 20, Wu landed at No. Though just 21 and a recent graduate of Ryerson University's fashion program, Amanda Lew Kee has already caught the eye of fashion editors and retailers from small boutiques to Holt Renfrew, where she was part of the flagship store's annual showcase of graduate work. Lew Kee is young, but design-wise she's tough and edgy and her first collection was heavy on studs, chains and black leather swathed in neo-goth shapes that would go down nicely with any rock star or dominatrix. For spring she'll show more napa leather, which doesn't exactly scream "springtime," but then, big-name designers in New York and Paris showed lots of leather for spring, too. 900 Washington Ave. Suite 3. The company name Butterscotch Toffee is a color the Bautista family identifies with as they are of mixed descent just like the candy is made of more than one flavor. Good champagne was to be had at Barney's on Friday night when the store hosted a cocktail party to celebrate the relaunch of the legendary French house Vionnet. Sophia Kokosalaki has taken over as designer and she was on hand. The collection is beautiful -- all fluid shapes and draping -- but it is so expensive I practically started hyperventilating when I looked at some of the price tags. The 10 malls at the top of the list perform much better, with sales well above $600 per square foot and occupancy rates of 94 percent or higher. And each earns an A+ from Green Street for its performance and the quality of its tenants. Here's where shoppers are still spending money:. If nothing else mentioned so far provides relief, sometimes epidural steroid injections (ESI -- usually in sets of three, several weeks to months apart) can often help a great deal. However, it seems there are a lot of other things that have not yet been tried. While Vicodin and other opioids may sometimes help with the superficial symptoms, they often do not because of direct nerve inflammation. Exaggerated accessories, oversized hats and detailed accents of embroidery and brocade, on palates of vibrant jewel tones, deep reds and burgundy that are sure to demand attention! Also making an appearance, in sharp contrast to the rich colors vamping down the runways, there is a noticeable tribute to shades of grey, brown, and beige. Designs this season aim to create a flattering silhouette, the focus is on the waist, showing off sexy curves in form fitted skirts just below the knee and full short skirts cinched at the waist. Mix that with bold, edgy military styles and you have a sneak peak at what will be on the catwalks of Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2012!.

Missoni show goes on despite uncertainty over fate of missing CEO [Buy]10/05/2013 11:47:57
Missoni show goes on despite uncertainty over fate of missing CEO MILAN - The mood was solemn and the music mournful at the Missoni fashion show, which went on despite the uncertain fate of the family-run fashion house's CEO. Vittorio Missoni, along with his companion, two other Italian friends and a crew of two, have been missing since their plane disappeared off Venezuelan resort islands over a week ago. His sister Angela, the brand's designer, and the rest of the family decided to go ahead with the show even as crews continued to search for the plane. In a show of support, Italian Fashion Chamber President Mario Boselli led the crowd in a standing ovation at the end of the preview for the winter 2014 menswear collection on Sunday. "They did the absolute right thing, showing the greatness of both the family and the company," Boselli said before the show. Boselli and Vittorio Missoni worked closely together at the fashion chamber promoting Italian design. Angela Missoni did not greet the crowd as she normally does, choosing to stay backstage. No other members of the family were present. The Missoni fashion house was founded 60 years ago by their parents, Ottavio and Rosita, who turned it over to their three children in the late 1990s. Brother Luca, a trained pilot, was in Venezuela assisting with the search. "The affection and the solidarity that we have received in these days of waiting are of great comfort for my entire family, and they give us the strength to continue to hope," Angela said in a statement. The missing were honoured on the runway with melancholic music in the background. Luca Missoni told private Italian television from Venezuela that the search was proceeding efficiently. "We are fairly certain where the airplane might have gone down there and therefore need to look for it there," the brother said. The collection's inspiration was the American West: the dramatic coastlines, deserts and Grand Canyon informing both the colours and the patterns. The looks were relaxed, from the knit suits to denim shirts and jeans to casual corduroy pants. Many of the knits were bulky, with colorful designs across the back, mostly in dual shades - rust and brown, or mustard and amber or purple and red. The colour procession reflected the cycle of a day, from daytime desert sand to deep sunset red and purple to nighttime anthracite and subdued silver. There were also the iconic fine Missoni knits that can be layered elegantly. Prints wrapping around sweaters were similar to Native American sand paintings. The collection put emphasis on the neckline - a trend in Milan this season - with high and layered collars, silken scarves tied at the neck and beaded necklaces.

Liz Claiborne [Buy]10/05/2013 11:28:40
Liz Claiborne By Olivia Barker, USA TODAY Liz Claiborne, the American sportswear pioneer whose career-minded separates prepared a generation of women for the workforce, died Tuesday in New York. She was 78 and had been battling cancer. When the Belgian-born Claiborne co-founded her company in 1976, she "understood the needs of women entering the workplace: to look feminine among men," says Merrill Greene, creative director at Stylesight, an online fashion forecasting company, and former brand strategist at Liz Claiborne. "In that way, she was quite politically important at the birth of the women's movement" into the work world. VIDEO: Fashion icon Liz Claiborne dies In the early '70s, a career woman's clothing options were largely limited to starchy suits and blazers. Claiborne, on the other hand, "was able to create career wear that was classic yet fresh. It wasn't boring," says Joanne Arbuckle, dean of art and design at New York's Fashion Institute of Technology. "And it was at the right price point" neither bridge nor mass market which made the clothes appealing and accessible to the mainstream professionals who became her core customers. As a wife, mother and top executive of a successful company, "she was, in essence, her own best customer," says Nandini D'Souza, senior fashion features editor at W magazine. She showed working women "they didn't have to wear staid blue suits, which were just retreads of what men were wearing. They could wear something colorful, they could mix and match. They could have more choice and more fun" and inject personality into their office outfits. Bill McComb, CEO of Liz Claiborne, said in a statement: "In losing Liz Claiborne, we have not only lost the founder of our company, but an inspirational woman who revolutionized the fashion industry. Her commitment to style and design is ever present in our thinking and the way we work." The company went public in 1981. By 1985, Liz Claiborne Inc. was the first company founded by a woman to be listed in the Fortune 500, according to the company's website. Claiborne, along with her husband, Art Ortenberg, also a co-founder, retired from the day-to-day operations in 1989. Today, Liz Claiborne Inc.'s brands include Ellen Tracy, Dana Buchman and Juicy Couture. Last year, sales reached almost $5 billion. With her owlish glasses and chic short hair, Claiborne wasn't known for conjuring an iconic piece, la Diane von Furstenberg's wrap dress, but for fostering a signature attitude. "She always designed clothes that allowed you to move through things with grace," Greene says. Claiborne catered to a multidimensional customer: "a mother, a career woman and a wife," Greene says. The clothes were "multigenerational and cut across all demographics. It was a very democratic line."

Lingerie Fashion [Buy]09/05/2013 15:18:05
Lingerie Fashion When we women want to look and feel sexy, we have many lingerie choices. We have bras, panties, pantyhose, gowns, baby dolls, nighties, corsets and more. They come in red, black, white, pastels and a whole host of patterns. They can be made of velvet, suede, lace, satin or silk. Perhaps the sexiest thing about lingerie is the material it's made of. Different materials can be very sensual. Lingerie is generally made with the materials I mentioned previously because those are materials that stimulate our sense of touch. We like to run our hands along velvet and suede. We do it with clothing, jackets, furniture and curtains. Men and women alike wear satin or silk shirts because of the way they feel on the body, the way they hang away from some places and cling to others. Lace is a slightly different matter. Unless it's made with one of the more sensual materials, it really doesn't go with touch as much. However, lace is associated with lingerie because of its hide-and-seek quality. It's a kind of peek-a-boo material, which lends itself very well to the sexiness of lingerie. Keep It On If lingerie were meant to be taken off immediately, it wouldn't be made of such wonderful materials. Many women don't quite get this connection. Don't throw your lingerie on the floor the moment your special someone sees you with it on. Use the materials. When you purchase lingerie, don't just see what it looks like on, feel it as well. Get something that makes you feel sensual and irresistible.

Beckham has been an arbiter of trends like no other, with his crowning achievement being the 'male sarong,' perhaps only bested by Liverpool FC's entire squad adopting the white suit trend! It was left to the godfather of fashion, Giorgio Armani, to really cement the link between the beautiful game and beautiful clothes. In 1995, he sent David James, (erstwhile Liverpool goalie), down the catwalk and began an association that would become a cash-cow for designers and players alike. Armani was able to have a direct influence on high street fashion due to his launch of more affordable Armani subsidiaries -beginning with Armani Jeans, which was fronted by James. Further complicating Jardine's feelings in victory and in the vote of support from his men was the recall of his visit to the Australian dressing-room in quest of an apology for an alleged reference to Larwood as a "bastard". Vic Richardson answered the door. Upon being told of the nature of Jardine's call he turned to the players inside and said, "Hey, which of you bastards called Larwood a bastard instead of Jardine?" A variant came in a cartoon drawn years later in which Richardson is asking, "Which one of you bastards called this bastard a bastard?". The dough should not be so moist that when made into a ball and gently pressed between the palms, it sticks to the palms. If too moist, stir or knead in a bit more masa.
